For nearly fifteen years, Mike Pierson worked for mid to large engineering companies like CH2M Hill and Greeley and Hansen Engineers. In that time he worked with great people and many large utilities and became very familiar with how the utility business works and the special needs they have. In the latter years of his career, he developed and co-developed applications to meet those special needs.

Mike started Pierson Software in September of 2004. He set out as a custom software developer for the Utility Industry. Many applications were developed and supported resulting in satisfied customers. The sense of pride and accomplishment was being met. However, the dream to own and run a software company that develops useful packaged software was always nagging. So, in June of 2007, Mike incorporated his company and set out once again to provide tools that utilities could use to work easier and more efficient.

Capital Asset Planner was the first product made available. Used to track assets and their associated costs of ownership, its intent was to ease the task of capital budgeting and to give the user a much better understanding of the capital monies needed. As a result, Capital Asset Planner would limit, or even eliminate, the need and stress involved with asking for more money from those controlling capital funds.
